If it's worth building, it's worth building well.

Trevor Construction was founded in Connecticut in 1991 and is a leader in the USA construction industry. We are known for exceptional execution on complex and innovative projects, honoring architectural vision, and delivering precision and quality. Our focus and reputation has resulted in a significant and varied portfolio of work and a diverse array of loyal clients for whom we provide preconstruction, construction management, and general contracting services.

Preconstruction

Preconstruction Services

At Trevor Constructions, we believe that this is our opportunity to explore and understand the owner’s and architect’s vision, and develop the framework for its realization through the construction process. Broad experience and deep expertise make us a strong partner in both the innovation and the preparation inherent during the preconstruction phase. The early involvement of our construction managers, and the support of our estimating department, helps us to prioritize and quantify factors such as budget, schedule and construction method, while becoming embedded in the team and building the collaboration that will shape the project as it moves forward.

Phasing and Logistics

We actively seek out difficult and complex projects involving multiple phases, constrained sites, and technically challenging logistics and requirements. Our success with this kind of work relies on our teams early participation in the preconstruction phase, allowing us to holistically build solutions and avoid pitfalls from the outset and achieve both schedule and budget goals. We absolutely prioritize safety when performing work in high traffic, urban locations with neighboring buildings and the public close by, and we operate with the care and consideration that allows schools, businesses and residences to remain open throughout construction.

Virtual Design & Construction

Trevor Construction operates with the belief that precise planning and coordination should be completed and in place prior to construction and adapted in the field. We utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other advanced construction technologies to accomplish this. We work with various Autodesk programs like Navisworks and require all major trades partners such as structural steel, mechanical, plumbing and electrical to participate in a “clash detection” form of coordination on all BIM projects. This preventive planning measure ensures proper scheduling and drastically reduces, or eliminates, the potential for schedule delays and unwanted change orders.

Construction

Construction Services

Trevor Construction has an extensive and diverse construction portfolio that spans restoration, renovation, new construction, and interiors. Many projects blend these areas of expertise and involve the addition of innovative and ambitious new structures to existing, often historically significant, buildings. The codes, materials and techniques are distinct for each type of project, but what is common to all our work is the precision and excellence that we deliver to every client. The skill and experience that we deploy through our construction teams on the ground equals the best in the industry. Our goal is always to deliver unparalleled quality in line with each project’s unique vision.

Occupied Sites

Many of Trevor Construction’s projects require working in buildings and campuses that remain occupied and in operation throughout the construction process. This requires sensitivity and consideration, achieved through close communication with building managers and occupants, and a high degree of precision in scheduling. Our exceptional pre-planning and commitment to customer service sets us apart with on time delivery and minimal disruption under these often strenuous conditions.

Trevor Construction was an early adopter of BIM360 Field (originally Vela) to track issues in the field, including quality control and punch lists.

Quality Control

Construction, more than any other industry, illustrates the maxim that it is more economical to do it right the first time than to fix it later. Quality control is embedded in everything we do and is the responsibility of every member of a Trevor Construction project team. We apply it as a continuous discipline from estimates, schedules, proposals and written communications through all aspects of the construction phase where it starts with the best people and the appropriate experience on every team. That is followed by clear, unambiguous direction to ensure high quality work efficiently done in a clean and orderly environment that reflects the integrity inherent in our process and reduces loss, errors and safety risks. Every Trevor Construction project has a superintendent who’s primary responsibility it is to manage quality control. We utilize mobile issue tracking and close-in checklist software: BIM 360 to flag and manage production floor challenges and allow for rapid checking against source-design and shop-drawing document libraries. Markup or photographic notifications are delivered by email while quality assurance checklist routines and full punchlist management are available on both mobile devices and computers. All subcontractors and consultants are tied together through web-based email or MSOutlook.

Self-Performed Work

We believe that attracting and keeping the most skilled and experienced tradesmen; carpenters, laborers and operating engineers, allows us to retain lessons learned on every project and deliver deep experience and established, vetted teams to our clients. Many of our construction and project managers began their Trevor Construction careers as carpenters and superintendents and we value the insight and knowledge that they bring to management. We do not insist on self-performing work but have a long history of excelling in it, especially for scopes that are notoriously difficult to price due to lack of clear definition and difficult access. We know that the decades of hands-on learning embedded in our teams offers advantages at every stage of a project.

    Design / Build

    Design / Build Services

The design/build delivery method provides for a unique collaboration between the owner, designer, and contractor, who together form a partnership committed to design efficiency and project delivery. In a design/build environment, the interests of all parties are closely aligned. Successful design/build relationships include a strong and active role for the builder in the design process. The skills and expertise that the builder brings are a positive and creative force in making informed decisions about phasing, constructability, evaluation of alternatives, and value engineering. The design/build methodology allows Trevor Construction to develop a collaborative approach between designer and builder from the start and has led to the successful completion of many ambitious projects.

    Green Building Services

Trevor Construction corporate philosophy includes a strong commitment to environmental responsibility. As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), we fully support its mission to expand green building practices and education. Many of our project managers are LEED Accredited Professionals, and we actively encourage ongoing education in green building practices for our staff. We strive to reduce waste and recycle materials from jobsites and utilize energy efficiency measures in our own offices to mitigate our impact on the environment including installation of low flow plumbing fixtures, two electric vehicle charging stations, and motion sensor controlled lighting. Almost two decades ago, Trevor Construction completed The Thoreau Center, one of the country’s first projects to blend a historic renovation with green building technologies, and since that time we have completed numerous green projects, such as the Lands End Lookout, 140 New Montgomery, Belles Street Townhomes, and Connecticut Friends School. Trevor Construction projects have achieved Silver, Gold and Platinum level LEED certifications and we are familiar with many other green rating systems such as CHPS for USA public schools and GreenPoint Rating for home construction.

    Construction Management

    Construction Management Services

Effective construction management relies on the breadth and depth of experience necessary to act as a skilled and trusted advisor to clients undertaking large projects and needing support across multiple functions. We may assist with hiring architects, consultants and even general contractors, negotiating contracts, scheduling and budgets. We may perform no actual construction on these projects but select and engage multiple sub-prime contractors and manage work across multiple phases or sections of a larger development.
